Fifteen people attended a protest outside the Cypriot embassy in Dublin last Friday to oppose the deportation of Kurdish asylum-seekers from Cyprus to Syria.
Successful lobby in front of Cypriot embassy
The protest lasted for around an hour, at lunch time. We tried to talk to a representative from the embassy about the case of the asylum-seekers but they refused to let us. We did however manage to hand in a letter of protest on behalf on Socialist Party TD, Joe Higgins.
The Socialist Party in Ireland will continue to put pressure on the Cypriot government to make sure that these asylum seekers are given the democratic right to asylum in Cyprus!
