9th CWI World Congress 2007

In January 2007, the Committee for a Workers’ International (CWI) will hold its 9th World Congress. This event will be attended by delegates and visitors from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Cyprus, Czech Republic, England and Wales, France, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kashmir, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Ukraine, USA and Venezuela. The congress will last for one week. It will debate and discuss the main issues facing the working class internationally and the tasks for the CWI, and workers and young people wanting to fight for a socialist world.

Two of the main Congress documents that will be debated and discussed are ‘World and inter-imperialist relations’ and ‘Europe – the current stage of the class struggle’. We are publishing the initial draft of these documents, along with a resolution on the situation in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), the loose alliance of countries that made up the former Soviet Union.

During the CWI congress these documents will be subject to debate, discussion and amendment, and the final texts will be published following the congress. Other resolutions and documents will also be published in the light of the congress discussions.
