Kazakhstan: Solidarity urgently needed!

Leader of Socialist Resistance Kazakhstan, Ainur Kurmanov, again under threat!

At 14.30 today, as Ainur was walking along the street in Almaty, he was stopped by the police and handed a warrant to appear at court tomorrow apparently on the charge, under Clause 373, part 3 of the Administrative Code of Kazakhstan of “organising on the 22nd July a non sanctioned meeting with the aim of planning a picket for handing a petition to the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev through the Almaty City Akim demanding the resignation of the government”!

For participating in this peaceful protest, which took place without any disruption, Ainur now faces 15 days in jail. In this way the government is attempting to frighten activists from the workers and social movements. They will not succeed.

It is expected that there will be a big turnout of supporters to the court tomorrow. Please urgently sent messages of solidarity to
