Nazarbayev regime cancels elections in city
Campaign Kazakhstan has appealed again today for donations and messages of protest to support the fight against the dictatorial Nazarbayev regime after state forces carried out a massacre of workers on 16 December. Previous reports from witnesses on the ground, as well as extensive coverage of the struggle as it developed through 2011, can be found here on socialistworld.net
Here we link to the latest report about the continuing crackdown being carried out by the Nazarbayev regime on the Campaign Kazakhstan website. Alongside an extension of the highly repressive ’state of emergency’ that was implemented in Zhanaozen in the wake of the massacre, independent workers candidates in Almaty, the capital, have now been bared from standing in Parliamentary elections on 15 January.
