A big protest rally in freezing temperatures greeted the Kazakhstan president as he attended a meeting to strengthen relations with the German government and big business.
The demonstrators, from various trade union, political and human rights organisations, condemned, in particular, the horrific massacre of strikers and their supporters at Zhanaozen in December.
