50,000 Youth strike against the war in Hamburg
Participants came from the apprentice schools, all types of secondary schools, private schools, the Technical University and the Hamburg University. Students at the blind and special needs schools also participated in the protest.
A loud demonstration of up to 25,000 students shouted slogans like, "Our answer to your war – strike in the school, strike in the factory", echoing around the city.
The marchers not only opposed the US and British attack on Iraq but also the German SPD/Green government’s policies, including their arms exports and their permission for the US and Britain to use Germany as a staging post for their attack.
Last week, on March 20, Day X, Youth against War organised protests of over 150,000 students in other parts of Germany, including a 70,000 strong demonstration in Berlin.
