N30 Strike: Paul Murphy MEP supports public sector workers’ strike

"The message was clear, enough is enough!"

Following the biggest strike in generations in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England last week, Paul Murphy MEP spoke in support of the Strike and against the conservative Tory government’s characterisation of the strike as a “damp squib” in the European Parliament.

This strike represented a massive step forward for the working class in Britain and Northern Ireland in their fight against the vicious austerity agenda of the government, as over 2 million public sector workers came out. It brought the working class in Northern Ireland and Britain into line with workers in many other countries across Europe where general strikes have become features of the burgeoning fight back against the attempt to make the working class pay for the bad gambling debts of the big bankers, bond holders and speculators.
